These Terms govern your use of Amarkal, a macOS application published by Peretz Yam, trading as Pulso Tools ("we", "us"), Israel. By installing or using Amarkal you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app. Amarkal is sold and distributed exclusively through the Mac App Store. Apple is the seller of record for every purchase, including in-app purchases and subscriptions, and the app is licensed to you under Apple's Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement. These Terms and our Privacy Policy cover the service around it; where Apple's agreement and these Terms conflict on the licence itself, Apple's agreement governs.
Amarkal is a one-time purchase of $129, made inside the app through Apple. That purchase gives you Amarkal for Mac and every update to version 1; Family Sharing for up to 6 people in your Apple Family; and the iOS version when it ships, at no additional cost. There are no licence keys, no activation and no device limits. Your right to use Amarkal is a purchase held by your Apple Account, checked on your Mac by the App Store. Prices are shown by Apple in your local currency and may differ between countries. A future major version may be a separate, optional purchase. If that happens, the version you bought keeps working and keeps receiving fixes.
Amarkal offers a 14-day trial at no cost, obtained through the App Store like any other purchase. The trial is the complete application, not a limited edition. When the trial ends, nothing is deleted and you are not locked out of your own data: Amarkal opens on a screen from which you can export your vault to a file, or buy the app and continue where you left off.
Your vault does not need us. You can keep it on this Mac only, in a folder you already sync, or on your own server. Amarkal Sync is an optional service that keeps an encrypted copy on our servers so your Macs stay in step and cloud groups can share.
When a Sync subscription ends, your vault is untouched. It stays on your Mac and keeps working, and you can point it at a folder or your own server. The encrypted copy on our servers is kept for 180 days after the subscription has truly expired — that is, after Apple's own billing grace period has passed without renewal — and is then deleted. Resubscribing within that time loses nothing.
Amarkal Sync is for your vault, not for file storage: up to 100 MB per account, and documents kept inside the vault are limited to 1 MB each. A typical vault is under 5 MB. If an account goes past these limits we will tell you and give you a reasonable time to bring it down. If it stays over, our servers stop accepting new records from that account; reading, exporting, local work and moving your vault elsewhere all keep working. If the limits are deliberately circumvented we may suspend the Sync service for that account while keeping its data for the retention period above. We act immediately and without notice only where activity is unlawful or degrades the service for other people. Suspending Sync does not stop Apple from charging a subscription you have not cancelled — only you can cancel it, in System Settings. If we suspend the service we will say so in writing and tell you how to cancel. We never delete your data as a sanction, never disable the application you bought, and never touch a vault kept on your own storage.
Apple is the seller. Apple charges you, issues the receipt and handles refunds under the Apple Media Services agreement you accepted with your Apple Account. We are not told who bought the app. We cannot issue, approve or decline a refund. Request one from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com or through Apple Support. Statutory withdrawal rights, where your law gives them, are exercised through Apple as the seller.
Amarkal encrypts your vault on your Mac. We cannot read it, cannot list what is in it and cannot recover it for you. That is the point of the product, and it has a consequence you must accept: if you lose your recovery phrase and every device holding your vault, no one, including us, can get your data back. You are responsible for keeping your recovery phrase, for the security of the Macs you use Amarkal on, and for the credentials of the third-party services you connect. Amarkal talks to those services with keys you provide; those keys never reach us.
Sharing a project with other people is included at no extra cost. A group can live on storage you own — a folder, your own S3 or WebDAV server — in which case our servers are not involved at all. A group can also live on Amarkal Sync, which requires an active subscription for the owner of that group. The owner decides who has access and can remove a member; removing them ends their access to the shared storage. Amarkal cannot reach into other companies' systems, so it does not change any credential for you. When you remove someone because a secret may have been exposed, Amarkal shows you the list of what that person could see, with a checkbox against each item, so you can change those secrets at the services themselves and keep track of what is done.
Amarkal can prepare a message to us about a bug or a suggestion. It is written into your own mail program, from your own address, and includes the app version, your macOS version and a short tail of the app's log; you see all of it and can edit or delete anything before sending. Nothing is sent without you pressing send in your mail program, and the vault's contents are never included.
Do not use Amarkal to break the law, to store or distribute material you have no right to, to attack or overload our services, or to circumvent the limits in section 4. Do not attempt to reach a vault or account that is not yours. You must be old enough to enter into a contract where you live, and at least 16.
Updates are delivered by the App Store; Amarkal contains no update mechanism of its own. We may change, add or remove features. Where a change removes something material that you rely on, we will say so in the release notes before it ships, and if the change substantially reduces what you bought you may stop using the app and, where your law provides for it, seek a remedy through Apple as the seller.
Amarkal is provided as is. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for loss of profits or revenue. We do not exclude liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or under mandatory consumer law. Where our liability can be limited, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app. Because Amarkal is designed so that only you hold the key, we cannot restore data you have lost; keeping your recovery phrase and your own backups is your responsibility, and this section does not shift that.
We may update these Terms. The current version always lives at pulso.tools/amarkal/terms with the date it was last changed, and material changes are noted in the app's release notes. If a change materially reduces your rights, it applies only from the date it is published, and you are free to stop using the app; continuing to use it after that date means you accept the updated Terms.
Severability: if any provision is unenforceable, the rest stands. No waiver: not enforcing a right once does not waive it. Assignment: you may not transfer these Terms; we may transfer them to a successor of the business, without reducing your rights. Force majeure: neither side is liable for delay caused by events outside its reasonable control. Entire agreement: these Terms and the Privacy Policy, together with Apple's own agreements, are the whole agreement about Amarkal. Language: the English text governs. Notices: write to [email protected]; we write to the address on your account.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of Tel Aviv have jurisdiction. Nothing here deprives you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence, or of the right to bring proceedings there where your law allows it.
